Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Speed Racer on 16th September 2008 priced at $35.99 SRP. This adaptation from the Wachowski Brothers stars Emile Hirsch as Speed Racer, a natural behind the wheel of his thunderous Mach 5. With support from Pops and Mom Racer (John Goodman and Susan Sarandon), girlfriend Trixie (Christina Ricci), younger brother Spritle (Paulie Litt) and the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox), Speed takes on fierce competitors to save his family’s business and protect the sport he loves.

Arriving day-and-date, the Blu-ray Disc release is a 3-disc set comprising of the film on Disc 1, the full-disc DVD game “Speed Racer Crucible Challenge” on Disc 2 and a bonus digital copy on Disc 3. The only extras confirmed so far are:

• Spritle in the Big Leagues
• Explore the cars and tracks used in the film and see how the races were created without a single real car

Na, das ist doch mal eine erfreuliche Nachricht.
Da werde ich zukünftig wohl öfter mal in Italien nach Blu-rays schauen müssen.
